Dawn has had a passion for all things art and design from a very young age. It is no surprise that she ended up obtaining her BFA in interior design from Iowa State University. She started her career in Chicago working in both the residential and commercial design markets. After falling in love with a farm boy from central Illinois, the two got married and started a life in the C-U area. Dawn has loved being a part of the SDG team, and truly feels blessed to be able to do what she loves every day. When not designing, she and her husband, James, spend time playing and exploring with their sons.

Building his first tree house at the age of eight, Cory has been interested in homes ever since. Many tents & tree houses later, Cory entered into the professional world of design working as a scenic designer in theater and a senior exhibit designer/art director in the museum and themed entertainment industry. Joining the SDG team has allowed Cory to channel his creative spirits back "home" for which he is thankful. Outside adventures and photography are also interests of Cory, as well as spending time with his wife and three children...and he might have a pirate ship in his backyard.

kara vanskike

Growing up in a home built and maintained by her parents, Kara spent much of her time in home improvement stores where she collected samples for her own interior design firm. At eight or nine, she had quite the business. However, once she realized she lacked any real design ability, she gravitated toward opportunities to work with creative people and has spent her career in marketing, public relations, and communications. She veered off the career path for a little while to be a SAHM, but, drawn to the family-first environment of SDG, she decided to change roles again. Kara is blessed with two boys and spends her free time adventuring with them. She is also active in the Down syndrome community as her youngest is rockin’ an extra chromosome.
